Welcome to Liberty Fine Arts
In 1976 a group of concerned parents came together to start Liberty Christian School. Out of their commitment and dedication to quality Christian education came more than 30 years now of excellent education. As the school grew in size Liberty saw the need to develop a fine arts department. For several years now the fine arts at Liberty has been reaching to the world by extending the love of Jesus Christ through the musical, visual and dramatic arts. Currently the fine arts department consists of 6 teachers and directors, Mrs. LeAnn Henry, Early Elementary Art; Miss Samantha Lee, Elementary & Secondary Art; Mrs. Tauri Ivey, Elementary Music & Choirs; Mr. Andrew VanDyke, Elementary & Secondary Band; Mrs. Melinda Kennedy, Sign Language Worship Teams and Mr. David Casterline, Secondary Choirs and Fine Arts Director. The school currently has over 75% of the student body participating in the fine arts. This far exceeds the national average of public schools. The choirs, bands and art student recently had the distinct honor of taking an international tour of England. Through this tour they were able to minister and impact the lives of others through musical performances at several historical gardens and cathedrals. Liberty Christian School was also recently given the distinction of being an “All Star School” for the National Anthem Project; Restoring America’s Voice sponsored by the Music Educators National Conference. Many of our fine art students have received local and national recognition in the visual arts and musical arts. The Art Club annually presents pieces at the Paramount Theatre’s Festival of Trees and the “Copy the Masters” paintings for the Anderson YMCA. Our choral department consists of 3 performing ensembles, “Lions of Judah” (3rd – 6th Grade Choir), “Una Core” (Middle School Choir) and “Una Voce” (High School Choir.) Our choirs have had the privilege of singing at many national sporting events and have received excellent commendation at various festivals and competitions. Currently, the band department supports 3 performing ensembles, Elementary Band, “Da Capo” (Middle School Band) and “A Tempo” (High School Band.) Many band members have been privileged to audition for and participate in the Indiana All State Orchestra. We also have an auditioned-only praise and worship team, “424.” Our “Hands for Jesus” is the American Sign Language Worship Team and they perform at many school events, chapel and church services in our community. The fine arts department is a shining example of Liberty’s vision to “passionately impact the world for Christ.”
