The Liberty Christian School Sports Marketing and Management class recently took a trip to Victory Field in Indianapolis to visit with the marketing team of the Indianapolis Indians. Kim Stoebick, Director of Marketing and Promotions and Shayla Smith, Digital Marketing Manager spent over an hour with the class discussing how the Indians promote their team, how they plan their season, and how they obtain and analyze marketing data to attract new fans to their venue.
Sports Marketing Teacher Rick Brown said, “It was an amazing experience for our students. Learning from the team that is one of the best in the area at what they do is priceless. They gave our students an inside look at what it is like to have a career in sports marketing and what that looks like on a day to day basis.”
The day began with a presentation in the Indians’ conference room where Stoebick and Smith presented examples of promotions and events that they use to entice fans to come to the games. Liberty Student Xavier White said, ” “I really learned a lot of new and exciting ways to bring people into our games and how you have to be prepared and organized with everything.”
After the presentation, the students were given a tour of Victory Field, including the Indians’ clubhouse. “The whole facility was super nice to see and get a tour of.”, Xavier said.
